Host a Successful Texas Hold 'Em Poker Party

Image
The Law First, and most importantly, know your local laws. Don't play for cash if it's not legal. Nothing can end a night on a sour note quite like facing criminal charges. The Basics Determine how many players you're going to have over. This sets the parameters for everything else that you need to decide. You can play with a range of players but they require different setups. Decide how many tables you're going to use. For up to 10 players, use a single table (if you have one large enough). For 11 to 16 players, use two tables. For 17 to 24 players, I recommend three tables. Beyond that, you're on your own. Have plenty of drinks and snack food, making sure the snacks you serve aren't likely to leave a residue. Some players like to establish a ground rule that no food can be eaten at the playing tables, and that all drinks must be set somewhere other than on the playing tables (e.g. a nearby end table). The Preparation Have plenty of poker chips. Clay or clay ...

Re-raise to your advantage

If you sense some weakness or hesitation in your opponents, this could be the perfect time to re-raise. You can also re-raise if you sense another player trying to push you off your hand. By re-raising, you show your confidence. At the same time, you get a clearer picture of what your opponent is holding. Tip 2: Switch up your playing style Do you always play ace-king or pocket tens the same way? Habitual play can put you at a disadvantage....

Crandell Addington, one of the men who took poker to Vegas described it as “a thinking man's game,” due to the opportunities it gives you to play strategically, and this may be the reason that the game took off. For its first few years in Vegas, you could only play Texas hold'em at one casino. The Golden Nugget. It was located in Downtown Las Vegas and was a bit of a seedy joint, which didn't get many high-stake player...
